Get involved

Places for People submitted an outline planning application in 2019 which received a resolution to grant by East Herts District Council committee in February 2023.

In February 2023, East Herts District Council’s planning committee resolved to approve the outline planning application for Gilston Park Estate in line with legal and professional advice, including the draft terms of the proposed legal agreement which secures the timely and appropriate delivery of infrastructure and affordable homes. Now, Places for People, the District and County Councils continue to work in collaboration to finalise the legal agreement and achieve a planning approval.

The outline planning stage which is currently underway is just the first step. Whilst masterplanning work has been undertaken, this is the next step in the process and will be continued with extensive public and community involvement in early Summer 2024. Please see below a figure representing the process set out by the Council in order to facilitate the delivery of developments part of the wider Harlow and Gilston Garden Town.

The community can continue to be involved in every step along the way, including through the latter stages of masterplanning and design codes for the site-wide strategic landscaping and Village 1, due to be undertaken this year.

Extensive public engagement is proposed through the remaining masterplans and in the progression of detailed planning applications for the development parcels.

More information on how to get involved at each stage can be found below, as well as the resources produced in the past as a result of community feedback.
