Upcoming Roadworks: A414/Eastwick Road
We would like to inform residents and road users of upcoming works on A414/Eastwick Road.
Dates: 21 September 2026 – 08 November 2026
Duration: Approximately seven weeks
Traffic Management: Road closure eastbound A414/Eastwick Road
During this period, the road eastbound of the A414/Zelenskyy Avenue roundabout will be closed for seven weeks from 21 September through to 8 November 2026. A signed diversion will guide drivers via High Wych. Road users should follow the recommended diversion in place as other road projects are underway.
To minimise the long-term impact for residents and road users along Eastwick Road, temporary two-way traffic lights will also be installed at the Burnt Mill junction to support the installation of BT diversion works. This will be delivered in phases as part of a 16-week programme and all residents will retain access to their homes.
At the same time, two-way traffic lights will be installed along Zelenskyy Avenue during nighttime works.
The works include installing and diverting utility services, as well as improving drainage.

Traffic Management: Nighttime two-way traffic signals on A414 Fifth/Zelenskky Avenue
During this period, Zelenskyy Avenue will operate under two-way traffic signal between the hours of 21:00 and 05:30.
The works are required to complete further installation works for utilities.

Duration: Approximately fifteen weeks
Traffic Management: 24-hour single lane closure on A414
During this period, the existing two lanes west of the roundabout will be reduced to single lanes in both the east and west directions.
These closures are required to complete the enabling works, including the construction of the south-western site access. This new access will enable the contractor to safely reach the remaining section of the site and continue construction activities away from the live highway.

Central Stort Crossing
In May 2026, work will begin on the next phase of the sustainable transport network. The Central Stort Crossing North is part of the Harlow & Gilston Garden Town masterplan which PfP & Barratt Redrow are proud to partner with HGGT and Hertfordshire County Council on. It will bring long-term improvements for the wider area, helping to support future growth and improve connectivity.
We recognise that construction activity can be disruptive for those living and working nearby. These works are, however, essential to delivering long term transport improvements for the community and future growth for the region. In addition to laying the groundwork for the wider development near Gilston, the scheme will create safer and more efficient connections for years to come.
The full programme is expected to take approximately two and a half years. Updates will be provided on the website as the project progresses, with information on each phase of work. These updates will be supported by community drop-in sessions and regular newsletters to help residents stay informed.
Phase Two: September 2026 – December 2026
The second phase of works will commence on 21 September 2026.
In line with the original programme, Eastwick Road (C161) will be closed for a period of seven weeks.
The road will be closed from 21 September through to 8 November 2026. A signed diversion will guide drivers via High Wych. Road users should follow the recommended diversion in place as other road projects are underway.
To minimise the long-term impact for residents and road users along Eastwick Road, temporary two-way traffic lights will also be installed at the Burnt Mill junction to support the installation of BT diversion works. At the same time, two-way traffic lights will be installed along Zelenskyy Avenue during nighttime works, and the 24hour lane closures along the A414 dual carriageway will remain until early 2027.
The works include installing and diverting utility services, as well as improving drainage.
To allow these works to be carried out safely, there will be temporary signage and traffic light-controlled lane closures in place.
All proposed works are subject to Hertfordshire County Council Highway Authority approval.
